POWA Distributes Food Items To Members, Widows In Anambra

The Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) Thursday distributed food items to its members and widows of policemen in Anambra.
Mrs Haraja Usman, the wife of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and President of the association, carried out the exercise during her two-day visit to the state.
Usman said the items were meant to cushion their sufferings.
She urged wives of policemen to always pray for their husbands and engage in economic activities to be able to support them.
She assured the widows that the IGP cared for them and would continue to support them.
The POWA president urged them to be proud members and endeavour to identify with and key into the opportunities offered by the association, including cooperative societies.
Usman, who had earlier laid the foundation stone for POWA Skills Acquisition Centre in Ukpo, Dunukofia Local Government Area, expressed the hope that it would be completed soon.
She said that when completed, the project would help to empower them with marketable skills and address the challenges of unemployment among them.
In a brief remark, Mrs Ekemi Echeng, the wife of the Anambra Commissioner of Police and state Chairman of POWA, thanked the IGP’s wife for the visit and distribution of food items to the women.
The items included rice, noodles, vegetable oil, spaghetti, custard, milk, tomatoes and diapers.
