APC National Chairmanship: Group Supports Saliu Mustapha

The Freedom Network Group has described Malam Saliu Mustapha, one of the aspirants for the All Progressive Congress (APC), chairmanship position, as the best person to lead the party into the next election cycle.
Mr Lukman Ahmed, National Coordinator of the group, said this in a statement in Abuja, yesterday.
He said Mustapha, who is the Turaki of the llorin Emirate, deserved to be the party’s national chairman because he was the only one among the key aspirants that had been conducting a decent campaign devoid of smear attacks.
According to Ahmed, what the APC needs at this point in time is a unifier that exemplifies what President Muhammadu Buhari outlined in his reaction to the party’s current situation.
“We are happy that President Buhari has finally spoken out on the acrimonious manner some aspirants and their associates have been running their campaigns.
“We agree that it is not good for the party and its interest and that is why we invite everyone to see the decent manner that Mustapha and his team have been going about their campaigns.
“It is someone like him that All Progressive Congress (APC), needs at this time to unify all the tendencies in the party as well as protect its interest,” he said.
He added that as one of the founding fathers of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Mustapha had been in the forefront of marketing the party in his media appearances.
Ahmed, who is also the Special Assistant to Kwara Governor on Poverty Alleviation, noted that the way out of the present situation in the APC was for its stakeholders to rally support for Mustapha.
According to him, Mustapha’s antecedent in the party remains outstanding.
He said, All Progressive Congress (APC), National Convention has been slated for March 26.
The convention is to elect new national executives to manage the party’s affairs which is being managed at present by its Caretaker and Extra-ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC).
